UPE met with Merced County on April 11, 2025, for the second round of negotiations. During this meeting, UPE presented multiple proposals, including adding Cesar Chavez Day as a paid holiday, implementing a training differential, and establishing longevity pay to recognize and reward years of service.
At the center of negotiations, UPE focused on meaningful salary increases and health care benefits. UPE remains optimistic that real progress is being made this year. We are pushing hard for significant salary increases and improvements to the health care CAP to help address the rising cost of living and inflation in Merced County. UPE understands that county workers deserve livable wages and access to affordable health care, and we are committed to making that a reality. The next bargaining session is scheduled for April 23, 2025. Stay tuned and keep an eye out for more updates and flyers as talks move forward. Remember, UPE is here to protect your rights, fight for fair treatment, and ensure your voice is heard at the table.
