UPE met and conferred with the Court this week regarding a new Court vehicle-use policy. As part of new state mandates, the Court has implemented a requirement for all employees who use Court vehicles to complete an online defensive driving course. Here are the key points regarding this new policy:
Course Access: The course is available on the Court's intranet and can be completed during your shift.
No Impact on Vehicle Usage: If you have not yet taken the course, it will not prevent you from using a Court vehicle. However, you will be reminded to take the course as soon as possible to remain in compliance with the policy.
No Discipline for Non-Compliance: Employees who have not yet completed the course will not face any disciplinary action. The Court understands that this is a new requirement, and they are committed to working with employees to ensure compliance without penalty.
Continuing Education Credits: Upon completion of the course, you can earn continuing education credits.
Possible Personal Insurance Benefits: Additionally, some personal car insurance policies may offer discounts to individuals who complete defensive driving courses. We encourage you to check with your insurance provider to see if this applies to you.
UPE sends a special thank you to the UPE Board and subject matter experts who participated in this meeting! If you have any questions or need assistance with accessing the course, please don't hesitate to reach out.
