The United Public Employees (UPE) bargaining team, as prescribed in the UPE bylaws, consists of the Bargaining Unit Governing Board Directors. Due to the tight turnaround in commencing bargaining with Placer Court and in accordance with the UPE Policy for Establishing Bargaining Teams for New Bargaining Unit, UPE is requesting volunteers to act in the capacity of a negotiating team until an election of a Governing Board is held and Governing Board Directors are seated at the January 2025 Board meeting. Responsibilities of a UPE negotiations team are attending contract negotiations and meet and confers for the remaining part of the year.
The selection of volunteers shall be seven (7) and as follows:
Three (3) volunteers from the Court Clerk, Sr. Court Clerk Chapter/classification,
Two (2) volunteers from the Courtroom Clerk Chapter/classification,
One (1) volunteer from the Court Reporter Chapter/Classification,
One (1) volunteer from the Specialized Employee Chapter /classification which comprises of Support Service Assistant, Sr. Custodian, Custodian, IT, Help Desk, Fiscal Services Clerk.

POLICY FOR ESTABLISHING BARGAINING TEAMS FOR NEW BARGAINING UNITS
If negotiations must commence on behalf of a new bargaining unit prior to the election of that unit’s governing board, the Executive Director shall solicit volunteers for the bargaining team in a manner that provides for proportional representation of the different classifications in the bargaining unit.
If the number of volunteers for a representational chapter exceeds the number of vacancies allocated to that chapter, selection shall be by order of seniority. Any tie in seniority shall be broken by lot (coin toss).
The appointed bargaining team shall remain in place until a bargaining unit governing board is seated.
