On February 9, 2023, UPE met with the County regarding the above policy and procedure.
The last time we met with the County on this policy, we left off with a few requests. The first was to make this into two (2) separate policies; the second was that the language be changed regarding completing an in-home assessment for families that will not pass a 309ER; the third was that the document be rearranged so that it reads better. The County completed one (1) of the three (3) asks, changing the language surrounding the in-home inspection. The County stated that since the process is similar for both Emergency Placement and Compelling Reason Placement, it would not be made into two (2) separate policies. As for rearranging the document for the sake of uniformity, the County stated that they needed to take it back to County Counsel. We agreed to let them publish before the change is made; they will let us know if the change was approved.
Thank you to the participants,
Eric Booker, Beverly Kearney and Sarah Singleton
