On Friday, January 31, 2025, your UPE team met with the department to continue discussions surrounding the impact of the new process regarding the Adoption Finalization Document Process.
In the previous meeting, UPE inquired if the department has any plans for the 020s that are not in CSW/CMS to be uploaded or if a checklist (reviewed by a supervisor) could be created for referrals/cases that transfer from one program to the next to help ensure that all necessary documentation is in the hard or electronic file. UPE also wanted to know if clerical could continue their current practice, to which the department said, “The report is being signed under penalty of perjury.” UPE reminded them, it has always been that way. The department said they would take back the questions regarding clerical continuing their portion of the report as well as the checklist.
The department did have some answers to the questions asked by UPE from the previous meeting. They are in favor of a transfer checklist to ensure that all necessary documentation has been provided by the previous program. Once one has been created, the County will provide a copy to UPE. There is no plan to have all 020s uploaded into CWS/CMS at this time. Lastly, under the advisement of DCC, clerical is no longer able to continue the practice of entering the information from the worksheet into the report.
There will also be a new form that will encompass multiple forms used currently by the Adoptions SW. This form will also be provided to UPE prior to its implementation.
Thank you to Sarah Singleton and Kristina Silva for your advocacy.
