005 Meet & Confer Update

Airport Dress Code for Dispatchers

UPE met with the County over their proposed dress code changes for the Airport Dispatchers. As the Airport described, they are attempting to standardize a professional look for the Airport Dispatchers. This means, the County will provide each dispatcher five polo shirts, two t-shirts, one pull-over sweat shirt (hooded), one fleece jacket (zip-up, no hood), and one jacket. UPE proposed that the policy revise the language so that polo shirts are not mandated to be tucked in. The County agreed. UPE asked if garments could be replaced. The County said yes so long as there is no neglect or unapproved alterations. Wear and tear are normal and would justify replacement by the County.

For some reason, if a person cannot wear certain garments, they should notice their supervisor. Any ADA accommodations will go through DPS. UPE proposed that shorts be allowed, the County agreed so long as they are cargo, khaki, or denim. UPE proposed that the County allow the option of a button up shirt or a polo, the County did not agree. UPE then requested that the issue be revisited in a year, to which the County agreed. Hats will be allowed to be worn and head attire.

We appreciate the 005 board members who participated at the meet and confer- Althea Russell, Jennifer Avalo, Dawn Richardson, and Airport Dispatcher Lona Bradford.
