COVID-19
Update
12/21/20
UPE is noticed of all positive COVID-19 cases in the Department, and the Union is aware of the increases in COVID-19 positive cases at worksites since November. During this time, UPE has continually called on the Department to offer in-person testing at worksites with multiple exposures in a short period of time. These services, provided by Public Health, have been offered at some locations but are not currently available due to increased demand. As an alternative, workers can use County time to receive free testing at test sites throughout the County. If workers have issues getting released for testing, please contact UPE.
Additionally, UPE continues to advocate for more telework opportunities for workers throughout the Department. UPE has also filed health and safety grievances at various locations relating to COVID-19 safety practices. The Union also continues to assist workers in obtaining ADA accommodations relating to underlying health conditions that place them at risk for COVID-19. Finally, UPE is contacting CAL-OHSA to ensure the Department is meeting all of the new requirements the organization recently put in place. If you have any questions or concerns relating to COVID-19, please contact your UPE Business Agent.
