DHA Lobby Reopening

    UPE is very pleased to announce that DHA decided to agree to UPE’s proposal regarding face-to-face interactions with clients.  This comes after several increasingly contentious meetings with UPE, and sustained advocacy by UPE to DHA management, the County Executive Officer, and the Board of Supervisors.  As a result, all workers that now have to meet clients face-to-face (e.g., HSA, intake, CSR, WOD, WTW) shall have the option of placing the client in one interview booth and conducting the interview by phone from a different booth.  UPE believes there is still more that can be done to make workers safer and we will continue to advocate for better working conditions.  As result, we have called on the Department to delay their reopening until we can meet again to address questions relating to the new plan, as well as other outstanding concerns.
